Manager of Maintenance Operations

Mr. Wilson has been employed with the FAA for over 20 years and currently serves as the Manager of Maintenance Operations for FAA’s Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Group. Overseeing a workforce of 240 employees ranging from administrative, supply, human resource, budget analyst, Professional Engineers, and highly skilled Maintenance Technicians responsible for the maintenance and modification of FAA’s flight inspection fleet of 31 specially equipped aircraft that certify the ground and space based navigational equipment utilized by the flying public. The flight inspection flight program averages 17,500 flight hours per year and has an international mission responsibility. Support for this large worldwide operation that has several field offices strategically located throughout the continental United States and Alaska is provided from a central headquarters operation at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Wilson holds an Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization and a Private Pilots Certificate. He has been instrumental in managing the organization through significant change including the FAR Part 135 certification process without interruption of service, ISO 9001 certification for the organization, and the transition to a Government Franchise operation in 2001. His leadership and vision has allowed this organization to be one of the first FAR Part 135/145 operators to seek AS 9110 certification. His leadership was instrumental in the National Recognition of being awarded as the Most Effective and Efficient Federal Flight Program in 2002 and 2004 by the General Services Administration. Mr. Wilson has lived in Newcastle, Oklahoma most of his life and was honored to serve as an elected official on the City Council for eight years. He was elected to the Newcastle City Council in 1999, served as Vice Mayor from 2001-2003 and Mayor from 2003-2007. He has been active in many civic groups and has served as a Board Member of the Oklahoma Conference of Mayors for the last 5 years.
