Cheryl Austin currently serves as Manager of the Federal Aviation Administration Aviation System Standards (AVN), Business and Program Planning Staff. AVN is internationally recognized as the leading authority on flight inspection and, under Memoranda of Agreement, performs flight inspections for more than 60 countries throughout the world.

Ms. Austin has more than 28 years of experience in the FAA. Since 1989, she has managed several FAA organizations including the Civil Aviation Registry, the Oklahoma City Flight Inspection Office, and the National Flight Procedures Office. She also served as the AVN International Program Liaison.

Ms. Austin holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from New York University, and a Master's of Science degree from the City University of New York-Queens College. She also graduated from the prestigious Department of Transportation Fellows Program.

During her FAA career, she has received numerous awards for superior performance and achievements. She was a major player and facilitator of the AVN Quality Improvement program. As a result of the accomplishments made, the AVN organization received the FAA Administrator's Quality Improvement Award in 1995 and the Department of Transportation Secretary's Quality Award in 1996.
